In today’s fast-paced world, everyone seems in a hurry to label themselves an expert. Especially in the digital space, where profiles are loaded with titles like "SEO Expert" or "Marketing Guru." It’s hard to scroll without bumping into a self-proclaimed master of their craft. But here’s the thing: if someone calls me an expert, I’m cool with it. But I’d never call myself one.
The truth is, I’m always striving to improve. Mastery is a journey that never really ends. No matter how much I know or how much experience I accumulate, I’ll never be “done.” That’s exactly why I stay motivated and keep evolving. When you think you've reached the top, there’s nowhere to go but down.
And let's be honest for a moment. When a 20-year-old slides into my DMs with a pitch, and their profile screams “XYZ Expert,” they lose me right there. I don’t even read the first sentence. Why? Because authenticity and humility go a long way. Sure, enthusiasm is great, but calling yourself an expert when you’re just getting started? That’s a hard pass.
Authenticity speaks volumes. You don’t need to call yourself an expert to prove your worth. Real pros, whether they’ve been in the game for two years or twenty, let their work speak for itself. They hustle, they learn, and eventually, others start calling them the expert.
So here’s my advice to all the young hustlers out there: keep grinding, stay humble, and focus on perfecting your craft. Let others call you an expert when you’ve earned it. Don’t rush. There’s no shortcut to true expertise, just time, effort, and passion.
Be a humble hustler. Keep learning, and let your reputation build itself. In the long run, this approach will take you much further than any self-proclaimed title ever could.
